Position Overview
The Logistics Specialist supports mission success by planning, coordinating, and executing logistics operations across supply chain management, transportation, inventory control, and sustainment activities. This role ensures the right resources are positioned at the right place, at the right time, in support of operational requirements. Key Responsibilities
The Logistics Specialist will:
- Coordinate end-to-end logistics support for mission operations, including procurement, supply distribution, transportation planning, and sustainment execution.
- Manage inventory accountability processes, including tracking, audits, reconciliation, and lifecycle management of government-furnished and contractor-acquired equipment.
- Support receipt, storage, issue, shipment, and disposal of materiel in compliance with DoD, agency, and contract requirements.
- Develop and maintain logistics documentation including:
- Shipping manifests
- Equipment lists / property records
- Purchase requests and receiving reports
- Logistics plans and sustainment schedules
- Coordinate transportation activities, including freight, courier, and cargo movement with appropriate packaging, labeling, and hazardous material considerations.
- Ensure compliance with applicable policies and regulations (e.g., FAR/DFARS, DoD supply standards, property accountability, export controls).
- Support logistics planning meetings, integrated product teams (IPTs), and operational synchronization sessions.
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks and constraints, recommending solutions to leadership to sustain operational tempo.
- Collaborate with program management and operations teams to forecast requirements and support mission scaling, surge operations, or contingency needs.
- Maintain logistics readiness metrics, reporting, and dashboards to support leadership decision-making.
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Demonstrated experience in logistics, supply chain operations, warehouse/inventory management, transportation coordination, or sustainment support in a defense, government, or high-compliance environment.
- Proven ability to execute logistics operations in fast-paced settings with shifting mission priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and compliance discipline, with the ability to maintain documentation and accountability standards.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in a related field such as:
- Logistics / Supply Chain Management
- Business Administration
- Operations Management
- International Business
- Homeland Security
- Public Administration
- Industrial Engineering
- Transportation Management
- Systems Engineering or related discipline
- Or, similar degree
Security Clearance
- Active Secret clearance required at minimum
- Top Secret (TS/Poly) preferred depending on contract requirements and mission access needs
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting DoD or federal customers (e.g., USSOCOM, Combatant Commands, IC elements, DHS, or expeditionary environments)
- Familiarity with logistics systems
- Knowledge of:
- FAR/DFARS compliance
- DoD property accountability policies
- Hazardous material shipping requirements (IATA/IMDG/49 CFR)
- Experience with shipping/transport coordination for sensitive, high-value, or controlled equipment
