Position Overview
The Senior Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technician serves as a technical authority and operational leader supporting the defense community and mission partners. This role is responsible for delivering advanced EOD expertise, enabling operational success through threat mitigation, render-safe execution, technical intelligence support, and planning integration. This position requires proven experience in Special Operations mission support, senior-level judgment, and the ability to lead EOD tasks in dynamic, high-stakes environments.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior EOD Technician will:
- Lead and execute EOD tasks, UXO response, demolition procedures, and render-safe actions in support of defense mission requirements.
- Serve as a senior technical advisor to senior leaders, staff planners, and operational elements on threat trends, mitigation strategies, and tactical employment of capabilities.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee EOD support to training events, joint exercises, contingency operations, and mission execution.
- Provide senior-level oversight of hazard assessments and mission risk management.
- Supervise the use and maintenance of equipment, ensuring readiness of systems, disruptors, platforms, protective systems, and demolition tools.
- Lead and mentor personnel, fostering performance development, discipline, and operational excellence.
- Ensure compliance with all DoD, service-level, and USSOCOM-specific safety standards for explosive handling, storage, transport, and disposal.
- Conduct post-incident reporting, technical documentation, and after-action reviews (AARs), delivering actionable lessons learned and process improvements.
- Support intelligence-driven and technical exploitation efforts, where required.
- Coordinate with interagency, coalition, and host-nation partners as required to ensure synchronized EOD response and disposal operations.
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Active security clearance
- Minimum 10+ years of EOD operational experience with demonstrated leadership at the team, detachment, or senior advisor level.
- Required experience supporting the USSOCOM Community.
- Training and mission rehearsal support
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in a related field such as:
- Homeland Security
- Counterterrorism / National Security
- Emergency Management
- Engineering / Applied Sciences
- Intelligence Studies
- Criminal Justice
- Military Studies
- Or, similar degree
(Additional EOD-specific certifications and operational qualifications may be considered as supporting credentials.)
Security Clearance
- Active Secret clearance required at minimum
- Top Secret (TS/Poly) strongly preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate of a U.S. Military EOD Program (Ex: Navy, Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, etc.) with current or prior qualification
- Advanced EOD capability experience.
- Prior experience leading EOD detachments or serving as senior advisor.
- Experience supporting partner force integration and coalition operations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including capability to brief senior leaders in an variety of settings.
